Home Assistant NestPrivacy policy
Effective October 20, 2026.
Home Assistant Nest is a personal integration operated by the owner of the connected Nest devices. This policy covers that integration, not Google's own services.
Data access and use
With the owner's authorization, the integration accesses home and room information, device information, thermostat settings and sensor data, camera livestreams, device events, and available camera snapshots. It can change thermostat settings and manage Google Cloud Pub/Sub topics and subscriptions to receive Nest updates. Data is used to display and operate the owner's devices and support their Home Assistant functionality.
Storage and services
OAuth credentials are stored in the owner's Home Assistant installation. Device data and event media may be retained by Home Assistant according to its configuration, history, logs, media storage, and backups. Google processes account authorization, Nest device services, and Pub/Sub messages under its own policies. This static information website does not provide access to device data or credentials.
Sharing and protection
The integration does not sell Google user data or use it for advertising. It does not intentionally publish device data to this website or share it with unrelated third parties. Home Assistant is protected by authentication and private network access. Anyone separately authorized to access the owner's Home Assistant may have access according to that installation's permissions.
Retention and revocation
The owner controls retention through Home Assistant's settings and backups. Removing the Nest integration and revoking its Google account access stops further access; existing history, media, logs, and backups may require separate deletion. Access can be reviewed or revoked in the Google Account's third-party connections and Nest Partner Connections Manager.
Use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
